I always get the chicken corn soup. Huge portion for very little money. Always filling and delicious. One of my favorite restaurants anywhere.

Forget having a family meal here - some of the "regulars" are jerks. One guy took exception to a group of four families with kids who were eating at the bar (between 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.) and got belligerent - actually threatened to fight one of us with no provocation - in front of a group of six children all under age 7. Staff did nothing but were apologetic. I notice the jerk still drinks there - our four families will not eat there again.

Went for my birthday party yesterday. This place is worse than most of cheap chinese restaurants on Spadina. Don't go there! Portions are small. Sizzling seafood plate was bad! Two shripms and non-chewable calimari. If you order so-called LOBSTER make sure you order it steamed so you can actually see you've got one otherwise you'll get a plate with garbage without claws or tails. Two lobsters for the price of one is a scam.

The Maddy is jam packed every Friday and Saturday night...although it's 21+ after 11:00pm, it's still an awesome time and the line moves quickly. Kind of an older crowd but with so many different levels, the vibe is different on each one. Went for a birthday party this weekend and we got a good spot with 3 booth-like benches outside...lots of fun and good bartenders.

Went here for an anniversary dinner in the private room upstairs...the appetizers were amazing and I almost didn't have room for my main course (but I squeezed it in). This lamb was sooooo delicious - I've only ever had homemade lamb before this but the rosemary/mint combination was fantastic and I definitely crave it daily.

Great burgers! I had my favourite with cheddar cheese and strip bacon...it was heavenly. The fresh fries on the side were a nice touch. My server seemed new but I guess she's working on it...

Went for lunch yesterday and I got the Rigatoni Romani...it was amazing. The portion size was pretty generous for the price ($9!) and it was flavoured perfectly. The only let down was that the lunch rush slowed down the waiters, but I survived. I enjoyed the fine dining atmosphere at such a low cost.

I once attended a family wedding held at La Gondola and I was shocked with what I saw in the kitchen. I went into the kitchen to ask for a book of matches with a company logo on it (because I happen to collect them). It was so busy in the kitchen that I actually stood there for 5 minutes before someone acknowledged me. Anyhow, as I stood there for 5 minutes, I was extremely disappointed with their sanitary practices. The workers seem too comfortable handling food with their dirty bare hands. Most of the waiters were actually handling the main course (steak) with their bare hands and organizing them neatly in their tray. I saw a woman went from handling dirty dishes to mixing a vegetable salad using her dirty hands. There were panini bread left under a table and was being unintentionally splashed with water by the dishwasher, then it was collected by a waiter, thrown into the oven then served to a customer. I saw a waitress ate a lobster tail from her serving tray with her bare hands, then go outside and serve the contents of the tray to her unsuspecting customers. I have heard of some nasty things going on behind the kitchen, but seeing it first hand, I lost my appetite. I wouldn’t recommend eating there after the unsanitary condition that I just witnessed. Thank you.

My family goes here all the time for the quality of sushi at such a great price. Their all you can eat lunch and dinner sushi specials are unbelievable and great if you're hungry. If someone says they're "Going for sushi", we know where they're headed and we're all in.
